Sloane Stephens v Mayar Sherif Head to Head

Stephens and Sherif have not played each other before this.

Stephens Ends Title Drought In Guadalajara

Sloane Stephens kept the good vibes flowing in 2022. Stephens got married on New Year’s Day and has now gone on to win her first WTA title in four years at the recently-concluded Guadalajara Open.

The 28-year-old American was in the midst of the longest title drought of her career. And a first-round loss at the Australian Open to Emma Raducanu did not help Stephens’ cause of snapping that streak.

Stephens, however, did not lose her bearings. And with a handful of top-seeded players falling like flies, she took advantage of the draw beating five unseeded women to the crown. The highest-ranked player she faced in her title run was World No. 81 Marie Bouzkova whom she beat in a thrilling three-setter in the final.

Now that Stephens has overcome the finals hurdle, she is going to be extremely dangerous. She has re-entered the Top 40 and historically, she tends to produce her best tennis during the North American hard-court swing in March. So, we might be seeing a lot of Sloane Stephens in the next few weeks.

Sherif Yet Win A Match In 2022

Mayar Sherif is still chasing for that elusive first win of 2022. The Egyptian trailblazer is a whopping 0-5 since the turn of the year. Her last match win of any kind was in November last year at the Buenos Aires WTA 125K.

And what is even more worrying, Sherif has managed to win just one set in five outings this season. The alarm bells are ringing, and the  25-year-old is desperate to get the ball rolling.

Last season, Sherif achieved some groundbreaking milestones. Among a long list of records she set, Sherif became the first Egyptian player to break the world’s top 100 after winning the WTA 125K title in Karlsruhe.

Even a return to the Middle East last month did not spark the Egpyitan into life. Her campaign in Dubai went in flames at the hands of Elina Svitolina. And even a wild card entrant in Doha went to waste as she picked up just three games against Sorana Cirstea.

Stephens v Sherif Prediction and Tip

Stephens is in her best form for some time, while Sherif has hit a wall. The American is odds-on to get her Monterrey campaign off to a winning start.

Tip: Stephens to win AND under 18.5 games: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
