Camila Osorio v Marcela Zacarias Head to Head
It’s 1-0 to Osorio whose sole defeat over Zacarias came in an ITF event in Guayaquil in 2019. The Colombian won that match in three sets.

World No. 44 Camila Osorio started her journey in Monterrey with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win over Magdalena Frech in the opener. The 20-year-old fought valiantly, needing a little over 90 minutes to seal the win.
She continues to build on her last week’s stint in Guadalajara where she reached the quarterfinal after surpassing Viktoriya Tomova and Hailey Baptiste.
Around the same time last year, Osorio was ranking in the late 180s. The fact that she is now in the top 50 – at her career-best singles ranking – tells us that she is a formidable opponent capable of playing with great consistency.
Last year, she won the Copa Colsanitas and followed it with semifinal appearances in Charleston and Belgrade. Osorio ended the season with a runner-up feat in the Tenerife Open.

Zacarias Survives Navarro
Marcela Zacarias battled hard for over two and a half hours to earn the second-round ticket in Monterrey. Facing the American Emma Navarro, Zacarias prevailed with 6-1, 6-7(3), 6-3.
This marks the very first time for the Mexican this season (and in a good few years) that she has bagged a main-tour win on the circuit. Up until now, the 27-year-old had restricted herself mainly to the ITF circuit where she has enjoyed a fair bit of success.
However, Zacarias is ranked in the early 200s and a lack of exposure to the WTA events may hinder her chances of moving further. She has played in two ITF events in 2022 – both as a qualifier- where she reached the main stage but failed to go further.
Osorio v Zacarias Prediction and Tip
Osorio has the advantage here – she is better equipped to play in big events and more importantly, has got a fair bit of momentum to reach the next round. Expect the Colombian to win this one.
