Sara Sorribes Tormo v Harmony Tan Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Tormo Outlasts Rakhimova

Sara Sorribes Tormo found herself in a marathon battle against Russia’s Kamilla Rakhimova. The Spaniard needed three hours to take the match 7-5, 6-7(2), 6-1. While it wasn’t the most clinical performance from the number four seed, it got the job done.

This result follows her quarterfinal run in the Guadalajara Open from last week where she upset the likes of Katie Volynets and Magdalena Frech.

Tormo also featured in the Australian tournaments but was beaten in the second rounds.

Compared to Tan, the 25-year-old is still in a much better place on the tour. She is the current world number 36, won her maiden singles title last year and has 10 ITF titles to her name alongside nine runner-up trophies.

In the process, she has also reached the latter rounds in many WTA events and defeated players like Jennifer Brady, Ons Jabeur, Elena Rybakina, Eugenie Bouchard, and Ashleigh Barty.

Tan Benefits from Zarazua’s Walkover

Harmony Tan hardly had to put any effort in her opening match against Renata Zarazua. She took the first set 6-0 before the Mexican retired early in the second citing health concerns.

The French qualifier got a walkover into round two as a result where she will now play the in-form Tormo.

However, her chances of winning this one are quite slim. While she did manage to beat Madison Keys in Guadalajara last week, she was ultimately stopped by Qiang Wang. It was a similar story in the Australian Open as well, where she retired in the third set from her match against Elina Svitolina.

Currently ranked World No. 99, Tan has spent the better part of her career on the ITF circuit. While she has seen some success there, she is still inexperienced when it comes to WTA events – at least when compared to Tormo.

Tormo v Tan Prediction and Tip

Tormo should win this match and reach the quarterfinal although, she may be challenged by Tan. This can go to three sets but the Spaniard should come out on the top.

Tip: Tormo to win: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
