Daniil Medvedev v Andy Murray Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2019 Brisbane International where Murray put up a brief fight before Medvedev won in straight sets.

Having gotten to the pinnacle of the world rankings, Medvedev would have been expected to do a lot better at Indian Wells than he did in the end.
The Australian Open finalist, who like here in Miami, had a first round bye in Indian Wells as well and did not face too many difficulties in getting past Tomas Machac in the second round.
However, against Gael Monfils, Medvedev’s best wasn’t enough as he went crashing out of that tournament in three sets. And with that, the 2021 quarterfinalist lost his number one ranking as well.
Medvedev, who is yet to win a title this season after having clinched four of them last year, still has a healthy 13-4 record for 2022. Just that for a potential world number one, he will need to do a lot better than that and easing past a former Grand Slam winner would be that step in the right direction.

Murray Subdues Delbonis
For the seventh time in a row, Murray won his first round match in a tournament but will he be able to break that hoodoo and get himself a second successive win?
In his opener this time, Murray overcame a spirited first set showing from Federico Delbonis and carved out a 7-6 (4), 6-1 win.
Needing an hour and 29 minutes in the encounter, Murray did not face a single break-point in the first set but was unable to get past Delbonis’ serve either. The tie-breaker is where Delbonis’ resistance ended as Murray broke away from 3-3 to win four of the next five points.
There was no looking back for Murray after that as he raced away to three breaks of serves and completed the victory.
Medvedev will be a different pedigree of opponent and that will make it a lot tougher for him.
Medvedev v Murray Prediction and Tip
While this has all the potential of a straightforward win for Medvedev, Murray will be looking to use his opponent’s defeat in Indian Wells to make a match out of it.
