Sebastian Korda v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head

38th-ranked Korda hasn’t played Kecmanovic at any level before this.

Korda Saves Match Points To Defeat Ramos Vinolas

Sebastian Korda was taken to the brink by Albert Ramos Vinolas and was extremely fortunate to get through his second-round match at the Miami Open.

Playing his third straight Spanish opponent, Korda appeared in deep trouble when he lost the opening set that was on a seesaw for 42 minutes. Ramos Vinolas led by a double break but was pegged back by Korda’s crisp hitting. Ultimately, the Spanish lefty benefited from a dud game by Korda in the ninth game and went on to wrap up the set to take a shock lead.

In the second set, both players exchanged breaks and the tiebreak would settle the matter. Ramos Vinolas established a cushion, going 5-2 up and being two points from victory. Remarkably, he would win just one more point as Korda reeled off six of seven points to level, saving one match point in the process.

That collapse was difficult to comprehend as far as Ramos Vinolas was concerned and it affected his mental focus in the third set where Korda ran away with it, breaking the Spaniard twice and finishing the match with slick touch at the net.

Another Masters 1000, Another Upset By Kecmanovic

Miomir Kecmanovic posted his second Top 10 win of his 2022 season and improves to 15-6 for the year. The former junior world No. 1 ousted World No. 9 Felix Auger-Aliassime, winning 6-4 6-2, and maintains his red-hot form from Indian Wells.

Just a week after scoring a major upset in California when he beat Matteo Berrettini en route to the quarterfinals of Indian Wells, Kecmanovic did not drop his head at the prospect of facing another top-tier opponent.

The first set was tight, decided only by one break of serve and which went Kecmanovic’s way. The decisive stat here was that Auger-Aliassime went 0-5 on break points and paid a hefty price.

With a one-set lead, the 22-year-old Serbian began to swing even more freely as Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian lacked zip and energy in his shots as he was broken twice in next to no time in the second set, eventually succumbing to another early exit.

Kecmanovic is into the third round of the Miami Open for the first time.

Korda v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip

Kecmanovic is hitting the ball ridiculously well out there. Few tennis players can outlast Auger-Aliassime in baseline duels, and none of us foresaw the Serbian World No. 48 sending the Canadian into the mire. If Korda continues to be as charitable on his serve as he did against Ramos Vinolas, it could be curtains for his Miami campaign.
