Alex Molcan got off to a good start in 2022 reaching the last eight in Melbourne but hasn’t won two matches in a row since then.
The 24-year-old World No. 65 was playing in the Marbella Challenger this week, where he fell to Jaume Munar in the quarterfinals.
The Slovak, who is 5-5 this season, made a sensational run to his maiden ATP final at Belgrade-2 last year, beating the likes of Fernando Verdasco and Federico Delbonis en route the title clash, which he lost to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. As a result of that performance, Molcan broke into the top 200 and then continued his move forward with a string of consistent results, particularly at the Challenger level.
He reached three Challenger Tour finals last year, winning one and losing one on clay and winning the only one on hard court.

Travaglia Is 3-5 in Main Draws
Facing Molcan is Italy’s Stefano Travaglia, who is 3-5 in the main draws this season.
The 30-year-old Italian, who has produced his best career results on clay, will be making his debut in Marrakech. He reached the quarterfinals in Pune this year, beating two Indian players on the way. His third win of the season came over Henri Laaksonen in Marseille.
The World no. 113 will be desperately hoping to get back into the top 100, after falling beyond 100 this year.
A four-time champion from six finals on the Challenger Tour, Travaglia won his only title of last year in Sibu.
