Yulia Putintseva v Robin Anderson Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

World No. 46 Yulia Putintseva may not have had the best of the starts to the season but if her recent form is any indication, better days are coming soon for her.
Having started the year with early defeats in the Australian Open, Dubai, and Doha, the Kazakh found some reprieve in the American swing. At the Indian Wells Open, she made it to round two before losing to Viktorija Golubic while in Miami, she fell to Paula Badosa in round three.
As a three-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, Putitnseva is more than equipped to deliver a surprising run in Charleston.
The 27-year-old is clearly comfortable on clay and is also well experienced to mark a quick win over Anderson and then, against the teenager Amanda Anisimova in round two. After all, she did win the Budapest Grand Prix and later reached the final in the Astana Open last year.

Anderson Wins the Qualifiers
28-year-old American Robin Anderson had to take the qualifying path to the main draw. She defeated 18-year-old Elvina Kalieva in three sets and then knocked out the Canadian Carol Zhao in straight sets.
This is only the second time this season that Anderson will feature in the main round of an event. The last instance was in the Australian Open where she went down to Samantha Stosur 7-6(5), 3-6, 3-6. Since then, she has featured mainly in ITF tournaments with not a lot to show for it.
Last year, she won an ITF title on the singles and doubles circuit and also reached as many finals.
Putintseva v Anderson Prediction and Tip
Putintseva will start as the favourite but Anderson may put up a good fight, especially given that the Kazakh is not entirely in the best of form. The American did manage to fight Stosur for a good three sets; there is no reason why she can’t do it again.
