Karolina Pliskova v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
Pliskova is 2-0 against Alexandrova, having won at Roland Garros in 2017 and in Eastbourne in 2019.

World No. 7 Karolina Pliskova fought back from a set down to win a close to three hour contest against Ukraine’s Katarina Zavatska to advance to the Round of 16 in Charleston.
The win was the Czech player’s first this season, who had come into the tournament having lost her opening matches in Indian Wells and Miami. Pliskova had missed the earlier part of the season due to an injury.
On Wednesday, the Czech fought back from an early break down to level the first set at 5-5 but the World No. 215 immediately restored the advantage before serving out the set.
In the second, the former No. 1 came back from a break down on two occasions before getting a third break in the last game and forcing the decider.
The fierce battle continued in the third set with Zavatska breaking back twice to keep her hopes alive. But yet again Pliskova got the decisive third break to score a 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 victory.
A 16-time winner on the tour, the two-time major finalist will be hoping to reach her first quarterfinal since the U.S. Open last year.

Alexandrova Continues Winning Run
After making a brisk start against America’s Allie Kiick, Ekaterina Alexandrova got a second win of the tournament on Wednesday after her second second round opponent Qinwen Zheng withdrew while trailing in the third set.
Alexandrova had lost the first set against the Chinese player but made a strong return. She was leading 2-6, 7-5, 5-2 when Zheng pulled out.
During the match, Alexandrova won 74% points on her first serve, saved seven of 10 break points, but converted just three of 16 break point opportunities.
Ranked No. 54 in the world, the 27-year-old improved her season record to 6-6. She hadn’t won successive main draw matches before the tournament this year. But has looked in decent touch in the tournament. Alexandrova had begun her campaign with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kiick.
Pliskova v Alexandrova Prediction and Tip
Pliskova is short of match practice, but the tough win over Zavatska would have given her a lot of confidence. Expect the Czech to extend her perfect record against Alexandrova.
