Reilly Opelka v John Isner Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Opelka leads 4-1 which includes a straight-set win for him over Isner at Dallas earlier this year at the semifinal stage. They have never played on clay before this.

Opelka has never played in a clay court final at the highest level before this and even on the Challenger circuit he has just one clay court title.
Add that to the fact he was coming into this tournament on the back of back to back defeats in Indian Wells and Miami, Opelka’s confidence might have taken bit of a hit.
Except it didn’t show up in his play as Opelka overcame a first set deficit in the second round against Mitchell Krueger and then defeated Gijs Brouwer 6-3, 7-5 to make the last four.
In the semis, Opelka was 6/4 underdog against Nick Kyrgios but needed only an hour and 11 minutes to lead the Aussie to his implosion.
Hitting 18 aces, Opelka faced just one break-point in the entire match and broke his opponent thrice to clinch the match 6-3, 7-5. Can he now carry his record against Isner on clay as well in what will be a match between two heavy-servers?

Survivor Isner Makes a Rare Clay Final
In what will be Isner’s first ever final on clay since 2013, Isner will look to turn things around for the season as he takes on Opelka.
And while Opelka starts off a favourite, Isner’s experience and tenacity will hold him in a good stead heading into this encounter. After wins over Steve Johnson and Frances Tiafoe, Isner needed to overcome a first set deficit in his semifinal against Cristian Garin to edge out his opponent.
Opelka won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to claim the win in a match lasting nearly two hours.
A break in the seventh game of the first set is all that Isner lost on his serve before running away with the match in the next two. Isner blasted 17 aces in the match and won 80% of his first serve points to clinch the victory.
