Andrey Rublev v Alex de Minaur Head to Head

Surprisingly, it is 2-0 to de Minaur who last defeated Rublev twice in 2018. This will be their first meeting on clay courts.

Rublev Coming off a Great Run

World No. 8 Andrey Rublev is 18-4 this season and has already bagged two titles – ATP Dubai and ATP Marseille. In addition, he was also a semifinalist in the Rotterdam Open and Indian Wells Open.

Of course, it hasn’t been entirely perfect; the 24-year-old lost to Nick Kyrgios in the Miami Open second round and to Marin Cilic in the Australian Open. Nonetheless, he remains a top 10 player with plans on going the distance this time in Monte-Carlo.

Last year, he reached the final here but lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas; Rublev finished the season with two finalist silverwares from Halle and Cincinnati.

As evident, the number five seed can play well on the surface – he was one of the elite eight at the 2020 Roland Garros and the Italian Open the following year.

De Minaur Hoping for a Hat-Trick

World No. 25 Alex de Minaur started his campaign in the Monte-Carlo Masters with a straight-set win over Bernabé Zapata Miralles.

He is now 13-6 this season as he looks to take things up a notch in the clay swing. That will be challenging to say the least; the young Aussie has never reached a singles final on this surface. In the elite tournaments and the French Open, his best result was in the Madrid Open last year when he made it to round three.

That said, de Minaur can surprise. He has beaten a handful of top 10 players over his career including Casper Ruud, Kevin Anderson, Kei Nishikori, and Alexander Zverev.

So far in 2022, de Minaur made it to the round of 16 in the Australian Open and BNP Paribas Open. Most recently in Miami, he lost to Tsitsipas in round three.

Rublev v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

Anything short of a clinical, straight-set win would be unacceptable from the in-form Rublev. With a bye into round two, he benefits from added rest and given his comparatively better clay form, he should be off to a good start.

Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
