Taylor Fritz keeps on winning in his breakout season as the American is looking solid even on clay which is not his favourite surface. It’s not been all roses for the American as he nearly lost in the first round to a player ranked way outside of the top 100.
He followed that win up with a pretty well-rounded performance against Sebastian Korda whom he defeated in straight sets. Korda was quite tired and did not play well but Fritz showed a solid level without many mistakes.
That is something that will be crucial against Fokina who will go for it quite often as he has been very aggressive all event long.

Davidovich Fokina Playing with Purpose
Davidovich Fokina has been playing superb tennis this week in Monte-Carlo. Novak Djokovic did not play well but beating the Serbian took quite an effort and don’t kid yourself if you think Fokina would have won with a mediocre performance.
He really tried and he got the deserved win. He bested a red-hot David Goffin who has been playing superb tennis as well but he was quite flat which is because of the amount of tennis he played lately.
Fokina moves well and he covers the court well. He’s also been very aggressive this week and that makes him quite dangerous.
Fritz v Fokina Prediction and Tip
So this is a very interesting tennis matchup between two players who have played rather competitive matches in the past. Each won one match and I think this will once again be a very competitive match. Fokina should have the edge with a naturally more suited game for clay but don’t discount Fritz.
The American is playing strong tennis with not a lof mistakes. He’s solid from both sides and can attack and defend as well. His serve is not a major weapon on clay but it’s always solid and that helps. Fokina tends to vary a bit more in his baseline level and that can be a double-edged sword to navigate.
I think we will see a close and competitive match but Fokina is playing this event with a certain purpose that we did not see from him in the past. I think that might push him past Fritz so I’m leaning towards him on the winner side. I don’t think it will come easy so games could be something to think about as well.
