Aslan Karatsev v Oscar Otte Head to Head

This will be their first tour-level meeting. However, Karatsev has won both their meetings at the lower level.

Karatsev Has Fizzled Out After a Sizzling Start

Last year’s runner-up Aslan Karatsev will hope to get his rhythm back in Belgrade. He had a brilliant start to the year, winning his third ATP title by defeating Andy Murray in the final in Sydney and then made his way to the third round of the Australian Open. But since then he has gone 2-7 in the next seven tournaments and will be desperate to get his winning touch back.

He didn’t make a good start on clay either, falling in the opening round in Monte-Carlo to Holger Rune. However, he would back himself to do well in Belgrade, where he beat Novak Djokovic in the semifinals last year before falling to Matteo Berrettini in a very close final.

Overall, the World No. 30 has a 9-7 record on clay. He is 8-8 so far in 2022 and will hope to string a few wins together in Serbia.

Otte Ousts Tabilo

Oscar Otte demolished Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets on Tuesday to make a solid start to the tournament.

The 24-year-old Chilean, who was in sensational form on South American clay and had also been doing well at the Challenger level, had a tough start on European clay, falling to Otte in just an hour and seven minutes.

Otte needed just 19 minutes to bagel Tabilo in the first set. The Chilean showed some resistance in the second set. He was a break down early but he pulled it back immediately only to see the German restore the advantage in the sixth game. Otte held on to the lead to seal the match 6-0, 6-3.

Ranked 67th in the world, Otte improved his season record to 5-7 in 2022. It was also just his second victory on clay at the tour-level, where he now has a 2-5 record.

This is the fifth tournament this season when he has won a first round match. He is yet to win two main draw matches in a row this season. Can he do that in Belgrade?

Karatsev v Otte Prediction and Tip

Karatsev will be wary of Otte, particularly after the way the German beat Tabilo in the first round. But eventually the fourth seed should advance to the quarterfinals.

Tip: Karatsev to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
