Sara Sorribes-Tormo v Varvara Gracheva Head to Head
The pair have played each other before, on a hard court at the Tenerife Open last year, Gracheva winning in three sets.

Sorribes-Tormo, who like most Spanish players was brought up on clay and has won 9 titles on the Challenger Tour on the surface, was playing her first match of the year on the surface on Wednesday against the Chinese qualifier, Qiang Wang, the world number 96.
The Spaniard was quickly into her stride though, breaking her Chinese opponent in her opening service game, and then consolidating that lead to claim the first set.
Another break at the start of the second set seemed to put Sorribes-Tormo firmly in the driving seat.
Wang briefly threatened a comeback when she forced a break of her own, but immediately dropped her own serve again, and then once more.
The seventh seed was then just left to serve out.

Gracheva Overcomes Potentially Tricky Oppoenent
Clay is the surface on which Gracheva has had the most success on the ITF tour, winning nine titles, the most recent of which was in 2019, And she also reached the third round of the French open last year, emulating her best showing to date in a Grand Slam event.
She faced a potentially difficult first round opponent in the form of the Czech player, Marie Bouzkova, ranked just four places lower than her in the world, and it proved to be a closely contested match, one break of serve enough to give Gracheva, competing under a neutral flag, the first set.
The second set was even, especially after a sequence of four dropped service games in the middle of it.
However, Bouzkova then dropped her serve once more, and Gracheva was able to close out the match next game.
Sorribes-Tormo v Gracheva Prediction and Tip
Gracheva won their one previous match, but that was on a hard court. The switch to clay would not seem to favour either player – both are accomplished on the surface – but this may be an opportunity for the Spaniard to justify her seeding.
