Leylah Fernandez v Jil Teichmann Head to Head

Jil Teichmann is off to a good start in Madrid as she piled on the miseries of Petra Kvitova by beating her 6-3, 7-5. The Swiss will now hope to bag one more win and post her best showing in the competition.
Currently ranked World No. 35, it has been a decent year for the 24-year-old who managed to reach her career-best ranking as #31 in January. That said, Teichmann hasn’t been among the most consistent performer on the tour this season, having lost early in St. Petersburg, Adelaide, Miami, Indian Wells, and Istanbul.
She did reach the quarterfinal in Dubai as a qualifier to mark her second-best singles run. Teichmann was the runner-up in the Cincinnati Open last season, upsetting Belinda Bencic, Naomi Osaka, and Karolina Pliskova en route.
For what it’s worth, she has two clay titles on the WTA Tour and 10 ITF finals on the same surface. She is comfortable on this turf and will fancy her chances of a good run.

Fernandez Survives Petkovic
Leylah Fernandez had to work hard to earn her first-round win in Madrid as she faced Andrea Petkovic and won 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The World No. 20 and the reigning US Open finalist has enjoyed a decent year so far; she successfully defended her title in Monterrey and also reached the fourth round in the Indian Wells Open.
In Miami and Charleston, however, Fernandez was beaten early by Karolina Muchova and Magda Linette respectively.
The Canadian teenager, while bustling with confidence and energy, still has ways to go on the WTA Tour. Nonetheless, she is ranked much higher than Teichmann and has an impressive record against the top-10 players on the tour. The only question is her consistency and her ability to navigate the tricky clay courts in Madrid.
Fernandez v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
This is another match where the bookies are giving even odds on the two; Teichmann has a better chance to bag this one on account of her better track record on the surface but Fernandez is more than capable of putting a good fight.
This match can swing either way but once again, we’re in store for a long one.
