Federico Coria v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head

They played once before in 202 and Altmaier was able to win that match 6-1 4-6 6-3.

Coria The Clay Specialist

Federico Coria is a noted clay specialist and while he can play on other surfaces he rarely wins those matches. 2022 has been decent for him with an 11-12 record and the record on clay is 9-9. Coria has a pretty decent serve and a lot will depend on it.

If he hits it well it will allow his forehand to finish off points. If he doesn’t it will be troublesome for him. Coria is a decent player but he’s not coming to Lyon in great shape. It will be a big question whether he is able to win this match, especially against Altmaier who can be tricky to play.

The worst problem for Coria is his lack of aggressiveness. He is quite passive and generally doesn’t attack much and with a hyper-aggressive player like Altmaier, it can be troublesome.

Altmaier Red Hot in Form

Daniel Altmaier will arrive in Lyon after winning a challenger trophy in his native Germany where he bested some solid players on clay. The German has always been a very good clay player and he reached the 4th round of the French Open before.

He is coming in form and with confidence so beating him will be very hard. The conditions will play a factor and his fatigue will play a part as well. He played two long matches in the semifinal and final so that might prove a factor. Stylistically he should be able to beat Coria.

Whether he can and how much his triumph in Germany will play a part in it, find out below.

Coria v Altmaier Prediction and Tip

So for me, Altmaier should be able to take this one. He played better recently and he should be filled with confidence. A huge factor will be his fatigue after a deep run at a challenge event last week but I generally think he should be able to do it.

The over is another option to play here because I do think we might see three sets. Two years ago the German won in three sets and I believe a similar thing will happen here again. The German can self destruct at times so keep that in mind when you play this match. There is always a risk he beats himself.

Tip: Altmaier to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
