Martina Trevisan v You Xiaodi Head to Head

Current world number 297, Xiaodi performed incredibly well in the Rabat Qualifiers. She beat Ingrid Neel 7-6, 7-5 in the first qualifier match and then won 6-2, 6-4 against Yvonne Cavalle Reimers as a heavy underdog.
She is playing in Rabat for the first time in her career and she has barely played enough clay court matches in her career, hence this main draw qualification seems more impressive.
Xiaodi is 5-8 on clay this season which includes ITF and WTA matches. She played in the Rome Masters qualifiers last week and lost to Kristina Kucova in three sets.
The Chinese player has a defensive game style and relies on her opponents to make unforced errors. She will have a free swing against Martina Trevisan and will not play under any pressure.

Trevisan on a Mission to Salvage her Clay Season
Martina Trevisan is a clay court specialist who has achieved some great results on the WTA tour, especially on clay. Her quarterfinal run in Roland Garros 2020 remains her best memory.
However, she has struggled to replicate her consistency on clay this year. She is only 3-4 on clay this season, her worst win percentage of her career on this surface.
She couldn’t qualify to the main draw in Madrid masters and lost her first round match in the Rome masters. Surprisingly, Trevisan has never made it to the main draw in Rabat in three previous attempts.
The Italian has got a kind draw and will be looking to make the most of it. A good run this week coupled with a win or two in the French Open next week could rescue her clay record this year.

Trevisan will have to be the aggressor against Xiaodi who doesn’t necessarily rack up the winners.
