Alexander Bublik v Arthur Rinderknech Head to Head

They played two times before and Rinderkench won both. The most recent one came in Doha this year with Arthur winning 6-7(5) 6-1 6-4.

Terrible Run For Bublik

Alexander Bublik has lost the last five matches he played and it’s probably something to do with clay. The player is an open clay-hater as he famously explained in Monte-Carlo. Bublik is having an okay year, especially since the 0-5 run in the last five matches he played puts the score at 12-12.

He is 1-5 on clay with his only win coming against Stan Wawrinka in Monte-Carlo. He has fond memories of Roland Garros as he played in the doubles finals last year but lost. The singles have not been so good and he probably won’t expect things to change much this year either.

Taking on a native player in round one is just another problem for him as he will have the crowd against him. Some underarm serve here and there will earn him negative appreciation from the crowd and who knows what will happen after that.

Rinderknech Searching For a Win

Arthur Rinderkench last won a match in Miami when he defeated Laslo Djere in round one. Since then it’s been there consecutive losses and he’s generally played rather well. He will search for that elusive win at Roland Garros but it will be tough.

He never won a match at the grand slam before despite playing twice but he will get a player who doesn’t like to play on clay and that’s a pretty solid chance. The crowd might be another factor to consider as they will certainly back their player.

Overall it’s a solid chance for him but he will need to serve well and play well. Bublik will attack and if Rinderknech absorbs that pressure well he should be in good shape.

Bublik v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

So they played two times since 2021 and the Frenchman was able to win both matches. It’s an interesting thing possibly indicating a matchup problem for Bublik. Both of these matches were on surfaces not named clay so that’s another positive for the Frenchman.

With that in mind and the form of Bublik I think we might see an upset here. I don’t see Bublik going down without winning a set but I don’t see him winning this either. Sure his opponent has played badly as well lately but he’s home, he’s more comfortable on clay and he will have the stands behind him.

That should certainly motivate him more to try than Bublik who is probably going to zone out at some point or another. Take Rinderknech.
