Duckworth Is 0-4 this Year

After a career-best season last year, James Duckworth suffered a hip injury. He still came back this year to play the Australian summer, but after three losses in the ATP Cup and the Australian Open combined, Duckworth required a hip surgery which kept him out of action for four months.

The 30-year-old, who has had nine surgeries over the past decade, made a return in Lyon, and lost the opener there as well, although not before stretching Francisco Cerundolo to three sets.

Duckworth broke into the top 50 for the first time last year, after a stellar season, which saw him reach a first ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Paris, reach a maiden ATP final in Nur-Sultan, win an ATP Challenger title in Istanbul and enter the quarterfinal in Sofia.

He is 0-4 this year, but having comeback from injury he will be looking to win his first match. At Roland Garros, this is his seventh main draw appearance.

After five consecutive first round losses, the Aussie finally won a match at Roland Garros last year. Can he add to it this year?

Ymer Struggling to Win

Mikael Ymer had begun the season on a solid note. The 23-year-old Swede had reached the quarterfinals in Adelaide-1 and the semifinals in Montpellier. But a defeat to Alexander Zverev in the semifinal in Montpellier began a series of losses for Ymer.

He is yet to win a match since his quarterfinal win in Montpellier over Richard Gasquet. He brings a 5-6 season record into the tournament, but is on a seven-match losing streak from all competitions.

Ymer has performed well at Roland Garros though, and will be hoping to get back to form in the tournament where he has a 3-3 record.

Having qualified for the main draw n debut in 2019, Ymer reached the second round. He lost in the first round the next year, but produced his best result last year, reaching the third round after defeating Gael Monfils in the second.

Duckworth v Ymer Prediction and Tip

This is going to be an interesting battle. Both have done well on clay at the lower levels, but Ymer has a better record at the tour level. However, with the Swede struggling to win, he will be short on confidence and Duckworth could capitalise on that. The Aussie will be a slight favourite.
