Anna Karolina Schmiedlova v Kristina Kucova Head to Head
Kucova holds a 3-1 lead over her compatriot, having won their last two encounters. They most recently met in Miami Open 2021 qualifying rounds.

Slovakia’s Anna Karolina Schmiedlova has had a pretty disappointing (and erratic) season so far. Her tally at the moment stands at 9-11 and has lost her first-round bout in four of her last five tournaments.
Most recently, the 27-year-old featured in the Morocco Open where she fell in round two to Ajla Tomljanovic. Before that, the current World No. 92 had participated in WTA 125 Saint-Malo, Madrid Open, Istanbul Open, and Bogota Open – with the exception of Cori Gauff, all of her defeats came at the hands of lower-ranked players than her.
That said, Schmiedlova did reach a couple of quarterfinals – notably in the WTA Guadalajara and Marbella Challenger – to post her best showing of 2022.
As for her track record in Roland Garros, she has reached the third round a couple of times but never managed to go further.

Kucova, Relying on Experience
There is not a whole lot that separates Kristina Kucova from her fellow countrywoman, except for the fact that she is slightly more experienced.
Even then, she is ranking just four places above Schmiedlova and has had a pretty similar spell in 2022. In fact, she has seen twice as many defeats than wins with her record now standing at 6-12.
The 32-year-old also last played in Rabat where she lost to Anna Bondar in round two. In the preceding events of the Rome Open and Madrid Open, she fell in the qualifiers while in the Miami and Lyon Open, she was beaten in the opening matches.
A good chunk of Kucova’s year is marked with such defeats except for the Australian Open and Indian Wells Open – where she did reach round two before going down the defeat path.
Kucova v Schmiedlova Prediction and Tip
This is a match that can swing either way. Schmiedlova has a slight advantage of having a better record in Paris but that is countered by her 1-3 record against Kucova.
A decent wager here would be to back this one seeing a fair number of games.
