Paula Badosa v Kaja Juvan Head to Head

Badosa and Juvan have no previous history. Thursday’s match will be their first official meeting.

Badosa Makes Light Work of Ferro

Paula Badosa was in full throttle in her opening round of this year’s Roland Garros. The Spaniard romped to victory in just 54 minutes, winning 6-2 6-0 against local hope Fiona Ferro.

Even with the majority of those in attendance supporting her opponent, the number three seed did not flinch. Badosa broke the Frenchwoman twice in the opening set, and was flawless in the second set where she did not drop a single point behind her first serve.

Badosa accounted for 25 winners to just 13 unforced errors and posted equally great numbers behind her first serve in the whole match. In contrast, Ferro was clearly not up to the task as her game malfunctioned terribly. Her six winners to 20 unforced errors reflected hugely on the scoreboard.

The 24-year-old Badosa has not had a particularly easy time in the build-up to Roland Garros, losing in the second round in each of her last two tournaments. Will she avoid a third when she takes on an in-form Juvan?

Juvan Seeks 3rd Top-10 Win

Kaja Juvan produced the best week of her tennis career this past week she reached her maiden WTA final at the Internationaux de Strasbourg, losing narrowly to Angelique Kerber.

But Juvan left Strasbourg for Paris in good spirits. She scored her second career win over a Top 10 player after knocking off Karolina Pliskova in the semifinals.

Juvan’s reward for her runner-up finish is a rise in the rankings of more than 10 spots. She has now entered the world’s Top 70, sitting at career-high No. 68.

The Slovenian opened up her Roland Garros campaign with a hard-fought win over 19-year-old qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva. Juvan was broken five times by the young Russian, which is a slightly worrying stat especially when she will be facing a high-caliber opponent like Badosa.

Badosa v Juvan Prediction and Tip

It would be a monumental upset should Juvan grind out a win in this one, but Badosa’s game is firing on all cylinders to entertain any drama. Expect the Spaniard to roll into the third round.
