Norrie leads 3-2. All these five meetings have taken place since 2021.

On clay, Norrie has a 2-0 lead over Khachanov, winning in Barcelona and Lyon last year.

Norrie Extends Streak

After scoring a comfortable three-set win over France’s Manuel Guinard on Sunday, World no. 11 Cameron Norrie made a quick work of Australia’s Jason Kubler in the second round to ease into the Round of 32 for the second time at Roland Garros.

Norrie, who has never gone past the third round at a Grand Slam, had lost at this stage last year. With form on his side, he will be hoping to make his last 16 debut at the clay court major this year.

Wednesday’s win extended Norrie’s win streak to six matches. The streak began last week, when he went all the way to clinch the Lyon Open title — his fourth at the tour-level and second this year. (Norrie had also claimed the Delray Beach title and had finished runner-up in Acapulco this year.)

The 26-year-old lefty needed two hours and 29 minutes to beat Kubler 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. He was equally good in the first round, taming Guinard 7-5, 6-2, 6-0.

Khachanov Halts Dellien’s Progress

World No. 25 Karen Khachanov bounced back after losing the first set to beat Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien in the second round on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old, who was quarterfinalist at Roland Garros in 2018, beat the Bolivian 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 in three hours and seven minutes.

The Russian had 58 winners and 43 unforced errors in the match. He converted 5 of 11 break points and saved  5 of nine to move into the third round of the Paris major for the fifth time in his sixth appearance. He has never lost a third round match at Roland Garros and he will be hoping to keep that record intact.

The 21st seed had begun his campaign with a four-set win over Portugal’s Nuno Borges. He faces his toughest test in tournament on Friday.

Norrie v Khachanov Prediction and Tip

This will be one of the top contests of the third round. They met four times last year, splitting two wins each, while Norrie won their only meeting of 2022 in Rotterdam.

Expect a very close contest with the in-form Norrie extending his perfect clay court record over Khachanov.
