Jessica Pegula v Tamara Zidansek Head to Head

They played once before and it happened in 2020 in Auckland. Pegula won 6-2 6-3.

Pegula Dominating in 2022

Jessica Pegula worked very hard in the past few years and in 2022 she is finally seeing the true benefits of it. Up to number 11 in the rankings with a Premier 1000 event final in Madrid and a 21-11 record overall and 9-3 on clay.

She is dominating players on all surfaces with her hard-hitting style of play that leaves players very confused about how to counter it. She can serve well and she is precise with her shots. Consistency is the final thing in her game that she needs to develop to truly unleash herself properly.

She played somewhat shaky in round one but defeated her opponent with ease. In round two she upper her level incredibly to blast 49 winners in a match against a very tricky opponent. Had she not almost choked the match away it would have been perfect.

Those confidence issues are present with Pegula at times and that can be a proper issue for her especially if the opponent takes advantage of that.

Zidansek Back in Paris

Tamara Zidansek had a major breakout last year in Paris reaching the semifinal but losing to Pavlyuchenkova. The Slovenian player is a noted clay specialist as she did very little away from that surface. On clay, she can use her very spin-heavy forehand to open the court properly.

She did not play that much this year mostly due to injuries and that part needs to improve. She is 9-8 and only 2-3 n clay but once again in Paris she is playing well.

She easily dispatched Clare Liu in straight sets behind 15 winners. It wasn’t the typical attacking display from Zidansek but more so a very smart way to attack a player prone to making mistakes. If she can keep that maturity she will be tricky to beat

There is very little chance she will outhit Pegula but she needs to find a way to counter Pegula who will be out for blood with her aggressive playstyle.

Pegula v Zidansek Prediction and Tip

So this matchup will be on the racquet of Pegula. She is the far better player with far more aggression in her game. She will attack and hope that Zidansek doesn’t find any answers. She might be right but it won’t be that easy. That forehand of the Slovenian can create quite a few issues even from the defensive.

The only time they played Pegula dominated but it was on hard courts so that’s hardly a surprise. Things will be a dif different thing time around but I don’t see her winning if Pegula is her usual self. I’ll trust the American because this is hardly the time to doubt her.

Tip: Pegula to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
