Oscar Otte v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head

They played six times before with Otte leading 4-2. All their matches came on clay with the most recent one in 2020 where Altmaier retired.

Otte Back on Grass

Oscar Otte played a superb match last year at Wimbledon nearly ousting Andy Murray and the German loves playing on the surface. It’s fast, it’s snappy just the way he likes it.

His playstyle is quite simple. Hit a good serve and look to shorten the point as quickly as possible. He hits dozens of winners every match but that comes with risks as well. If he doesn’t hit the ball well he tends to lose matches quickly.

Coming back home to Germany probably did well for him after a disappointing out at Roland Garros in round one. It was a 5-set battle where he had his chances but ultimately he was not sharp enough. He went 4-1 on grass last year and 14-15 record this year, he will certainly look to win some matches again.

The last time he played in Germany was in Munich over a month ago and he lost in the semifinal against Rune in a close affair. He will certainly be a tricky opponent this week in Stuttgart. Especially if the serve does damage as it can do.

Altmaier Not Looking Forward to Grass Season

Daniel Altmaier did not play a match since losing in the first round of Roland Garros and despite a very solid season overall it’s going to be tricky for him to do anything on grass.

He doesn’t play well on the surface despite having a fairly solid game for it. He has a good serve and good forehand which in most cases is enough for a good grass season. His movement is not the best but he did not play that much on it. He has a 4-6 career record on grass and that’s not very good.

Altmaier was in good form ahead of Roland Garros having triumphed on clay in Heilbronn, Germayn. He followed that up with a loss to Federico Coria in Lyon and then to Jaume Munar at Roland Garros. Stuttgart will be a welcome change for him but it’s unlikely he will go far.

Otte v Altmaier Prediction and Tip

Thes two players are quite similar and both play a very risky style. The difference is that Otte is the far better player on the grass with Altmaier being better on clay. The H2H is 4-2 in the favour of Otte and it would be quite a surprise if he lost against his younger compatriot.

We might see a close match with tiebreaks but I firmly believe that Otte is the better player at the moment with a higher ceiling on grass. I believe he will win.

Tip: Otte to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
