Daria Saville v Caty McNally Head to Head
They played once before and it was this year in Adelaide. Saville won 6-3 6-4.

Daria Saville was once Daria Gavrilova and she was a very good tennis player. Now, a couple of years later she is slowly building up to that level once more. She is almost inside the top 100 despite starting the year well outside of it.
It’s a testament to the strong tennis she has played since the start of the year. Saville is 16-11 on the year with most of those wins coming on hard courts. Clay has not been that good for her but perhaps she can find some form against on Grass.
By nature, it should suit her game a bit better than clay as she can attack the ways she likes to do. Her 1st round opponent is a good one to get her started as McNally is quite solid but not at the same level as McNally. If she can win that opening one she might get the confidence to start playing better.
Wimbledon will be ultimately the goal and wins over Kvitova at the French Open certainly prove she can still be dangerous when she tries.

Tough Qualifiers for McNally
McNally needed to play two qualifying matches to get into the main draw here. The first one was a very draining and tough one and she was actually quite close to losing that one. The 2nd one was better but it still did not show an overly high level from the American.
She is so far predominantly know for her pairing with Coco Gauff in the doubles. They play well together and had some deep runs in the past. The singles career took a step back this year with an 8-12 record overall. She is an attacking player but also one that is prone to many errors.
Grass suits her play quite well but she will need to keep the errors at a low number. Saville will certainly know how to exploit her game so McNally needs to be ready for that.
Traditionally she’s been excellent on grass with a 16-6 record in her career so this should be a very competitive one either way.
Saville v McNally Prediction and Tip
Daria Saville is the better player than Caty McNally and she played much better this season overall however traditionally it was McNally who did better on this specific surface. She also played a couple of matches here already which could prove a key with the weather acting up.
Saville should win this match and I will back her to win this match but there is fairly low value on her. She’s the favourite but I don’t expect her to cruise her. If McNally has a good day this might be a very competitive match. I still think Saville is more solid overall so hence why I will back her to win in three.
