Short Turnaround for Sabalenka

After playing some strong tennis in Den Bosch Aryna Sabalenka will have a short turnaround for Berlin. Aryna bombed in the Den Bosch final against Alexandrova losing in straight sets and she will face a player that Alexandrova bested in the semifinal in Berlin.

Sabalenka played a superb grass season last year going deep at Wimbledon but she won’t be able to do that this year due to the ban. She will lose a lot of points hence why she is playing all these events. It was a good week in Den Bosch with some close matches but for the most part, she played rather well.

As always, Aryna likes to attack and she attacked often and early. Her serve is a major weapon in any fast conditions including grass. She frustrated many players last week with her serve and it will serve her well in Berlin. She played last year here as well but lost to Madison Keys.

It’s been an okay year for her so far 19-13 but nothing special. Last year was much more impressive for Sabalenka who looked quite dejected after her Den Bosch loss.

Kudermetova Looking For Revenge

Veronika Kudermetova looked very sharp in Den Bosch last week and many thought she is a good candidate to win the trophy. She ran into a better player in Alexandrova who ended up winning the event but she will be looking for revenge here.

Last year her stay in Berlin was cut short against Alexandrova who bested her that time as well. Veronika is generally a pretty strong grass player. She has a precise serve, she can volley and she can hit the ball hard if need be. All of that goes in her favour and she has had some impressive wins this season.

It’s been a strong year overall for her with a 23-12 record but the consistency is still not there. Far too often she goes from brilliant to terrible over the course of a few matches and that’s not going to be good enough for the highest of peaks in tennis.

If she can find that consistent over the course of a couple of days she might be in for another deep run.

Sabalenka v Kudermetova Prediction and Tip

So this is a very tricky match to predict as quite literally both can with the match. It will largely come down to which versions show up. If Sabalenka from the Den Bosch final shows up she is lost in this one. If Kudermetova produces another lacklustre one she is lost.

Overall I do think Sabalenka is the better player on grass but I just don’t feel comfortable backing her after that awful final. I don’t feel comfortable in backing Kduermetova either until she proves me wrong but value is on her in this spot. She had one more day to rest and travel and on a short turnaround, it might matter.

Tip: Kudermetova to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
