Zidansek Eyeing for Consistency

Zidansek will be making her first appearance in the Berlin Open. She arrives here having won the Hertogenbosch Doubles title last week alongside Ellen Perez.

The Slovenian is still getting used to play on grass. She reached the second round in the Hertogenbosch Open, beating Harmony Tan in three sets in the first round. Zidansek lost to Caty McNally in the second round in straight sets.

She is having a very average year with a 10-10 record and hasn’t been able show any signs of consistency. After reaching a career high ranking of 22 in February this year, she has quickly lost places as she is now sitting on 59.

With not having to defend many points on grass, she will be playing very freely this grass season. The 2021 French Open quarterfinalist has the capability to make a deep run as un underdog /

Defending Champion Seeking to End Losing Streak

Last year, Samsonova won the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin to win her first career tour title. Quite incredibly, she won the title as a qualifier.

The Russian is far away from the form that won her that title. She is now on a 5 match losing streak and has already lost her first grass match of the season in Hertogenbosch.

Samsonova lost to Ann Li 3-6, 4-6. The biggest strength of Samsonova is her big serve. When she serves well, she can become unstoppable. She is 9-12 this year and will be hoping she can find the spark where it began for her 12 months ago.

Importantly, Samsonova is also defending 500 ranking points. It is quite important for her to maintain this ranking so as to remain seeded in bigger tournaments.

Zidansek v Samsonova Prediction and Tip

Zidansek has been extremely erratic this year, while Samsonova has not been able to find her big serve consistently. However, this match means a lot more for the Russian and if she gets her service games right, she will be the clear winner.

Tip: Samsonova to win: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
