Hurkacz to Get Going on Grass in Halle

Hubert Hurkacz will be playing his second singles match on grass this season. He lifted the doubles title in Stuttgart last week alongside Mate Pavic. That was his second doubles title this year, winning the first one in Miami Masters with John Isner.

In the Stuttgart singles, Hurkacz lost to Marton Fucsovics 5-7, 7-6(7), 3-6 in the round round of 16. He got a bye in the first round. His serve wasn’t working that well, he will look to polish his serve to make a deep run in Halle.

Last year, Hurkacz had spectacularly defeated current world number 1, Daniil Medvedev and Roger Federer to reach the semifinals of Wimbledon.

His game appears very natural on grass, he has this effortless serving style and has very soft hands at the net, and hence his continuous success in the doubles.

With the Wimbledon ranking points likely not to count, it is vital Hurkacz makes some deep runs in the current tournaments else his ranking will drop after the championships get over.

Cressy Impresses in Qualifiers

American Maxime Cressy impressed in the qualifiers to reach the main draw in Halle in the first attempt of his career.

He defeated  Louis Wessels in straight sets in his first qualifying match. Cressy went on to beat Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the final round of qualifiers.

Cressy played in Stuttgart last week, where he faced NextGen Dominic Stricker. He had put up incredible serving numbers right until he was serving for the match at 6-5 in the second set. Stricker played an incredible return game and finally won the match in the third set tie break.

Currently ranked 63, Cressy has a serve and volley oriented game which is extremely effective on grass. When his serve is working, he can be very tough to beat as the outcome is based on a very few actually rallies played.

Hurkacz v Cressy Prediction and Tip

This is a very tricky match for Hurkacz who is yet to win a match on grass while Cressy has come through qualifiers and is already settled in the Halle courts. Cressy is likely to serve big but Hurkacz has an excellent record in tie breaks and also has a great game for the grass. Hurkacz should come through in a longer match.

Tip: Hurkacz to win & over 23.5 games: 15/8 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
