Matteo Berrettini v Dan Evans Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two and that, coincidentally, came at the Queen’s Club Championships last season. Berrettini won that quarterfinal match en route a title victory.

Berrettini Finds His Way Back from Injury

Before entering last week’s Stuttgart Open, Berrettini hadn’t played a competitive match in three months. With fitness troubles keeping him off court, it was always going to be interesting to see how he went about his business on return.

Not too many would have expected him to go the distance either, especially given how he struggled through some of his victories; Berrettini needed three sets in both of his two round wins against Radu Albot and Lorenzo Sonego.

It was in the quarterfinal against Oscar Otte that Berrettini found a way back with a gruelling but straight-set win over Oscar Otte. Unable to penetrate the Otte serve, Berrettini managed to carve out wins in two tie-breakers to get through.

And then while Andy Murray pushed Berrettini into a third set too, for the third time in a row, the Italian clinched the decider to win his sixth ATP title and third on grass. He had become stronger by the end.

Evans Coming off Nottingham Challenger Win

While Berrettini was participating at the highest level in Stuttgart, Evans, who had himself had a wretched season all of 2022, opted to take part at the Nottingham Challenger that was held last week.

And Evans found himself some confidence by winning that title without dropping a set all competition.

Evans went into each of those five matches he won as a favourite including in the final where he defeated Australia’s Jordan Thompson to win this title for the second time in his career.

Overall, however, Evans is 12-13 at the highest level this season and coming up against an in-form Berrettini would have been the last thing he wanted this week.

Berrettini v Evans Prediction and Tip

While both players are coming off title wins, Berrettini’s confidence from having won at Stuttgart would be slightly higher and he can be expected to claim this one. Might even be in straight sets.

Tip: Berrettini to win: 9/20 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
