Aliaksandra Sasnovich v Andrea Petkovic Head to Head

It’s 2-1 to Sasnovich; she won their most recent meeting in the 2022 Rome qualifiers in straight sets.

Petkovic Upsets Muguruza

World No. 59 Andrea Petkovic is off to a blazing start in Berlin as she knocked out the number five seed Garbine Muguruza. It was one of her bigger wins in recent history as the German won the match 7-6(8), 6-4.

Over her long and illustrious career, Petkovic has made it to only one grass final – the Rosmalen Championships in 2010. The 34-year-old now finds herself on a resurgent path and seeing that she is playing at home, she may very well deliver a deep run.

Before the German Open, Andrea’s tally stood at 9-7 with a second-round stint in the French Open marking the highlight of her season. Last year, she reached two WTA finals – the first such feat for her in over six years.

That kickstarted her revival and since then, has made some tremendous leaps in the ranking.

As a former world number nine, Petkovic has an enviable resume and can hold her own against many on the tour. The question, however, remains of her form and consistency.

Sasnovich Enjoying a Brilliant Year

World No. 38 Aliaksandra Sasnovich is now 25-11, following her three-set triumph over Anastasia Gasanova in the opening match here.

The Belarusian has had quite a season with several round-of-16 appearances in the Miami Open, Strasbourg Open, and French Open. In Paris, she was particularly remarkable as she upset Emma Raducanu and Angelique Kerber.

Earlier in the year, Sasnovich also played in the final in Melbourne Summer Set – losing to Amanda Anisimova.

As for her record on grass, it is not entirely convincing. She fell in the qualifiers the last time she was in Berlin while in other events, she was handed early-round exits.

This time around, she has the advantage of a good season on her back. That said, Petkovic did just knock out a top 20 player and will be bolstered by that win.

Sasnovich v Petkovic Prediction and Tip

All things considered, Sasnovich is the odds-on favourite. She has had a far better season, is more in tune with her form, and has got a fair bit of momentum.

Petkovic will need to rally on home support and past experience to bag this one – and it will not be easy.
