24-year-old Alex Molcan is yet to win a match on grass as he continues his pursuit of finding his first victory.
He played in the Halle Open last week where he succumbed to the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(10), 6-3. Even his Wimbledon campaign wasn’t particularly impressive last season he succumbed in the final qualifying round.
A majority of Molcan’s success has come on clay courts; this season he reached the final in Lyon and Morocco – losing respectively to Cameron Norrie and David Goffin.
The World No. 45 also had a few decent stints on the hard courts in Dubai (round of 16) and ATP Melbourne (qualifier).
The Slovakian is still building his form on the tour and is not the most consistent performer. Taking on Kecmanovic will be a challenge.

Kecmanovic, 25-13 for the Season
By contrast, Miomir Kecmanovic has had a much better season. He is the current World No. 30 (a career-best for him) and has had his moments on the tour.
For instance, the Serbian reached consecutive quarterfinals in the Indian Wells and Miami Masters, defeating the likes of Marin Cilic, Matteo Berrettini, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Taylor Fritz.
Kecmanovic also delivered on clay with an elite-eight feat in Rio, elite-four in Munich, and a third-round appearance in the French Open (loss to Daniil Medvedev).
That said, he lost to Oscar Otte in the Halle Open first round. Nonetheless, his pedigree is far superior as he is fielding a much stronger resume against the top players on the ATP Tour.
Kecmanovic also has some familiarity with grass as he is 7-7. It is not the most impressive of the tallies but he has the potential to improve them further.
Molcan v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip
Kecmanovic is the clear favourite here; he has got a few things going on for him at the moment – including a fair bit of momentum – that should help him register a solid win over Molcan.
