Sabine Lisicki v Greet Minnen Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came in the qualifiers of the Rosmalen Open of 2019 and Minnen had won that in straight sets.

It was a 18-month layoff for Lisicki before she came back to the sport earlier this year, having injured her anterior cruciate ligament during a match in 2020. Her return came in May earlier this year on the ITF circuit but it was finally in Berlin two weeks ago she featured in her first WTA competition.
There she was knocked out in the qualifiers itself but getting herself a wildcard for the first round here, Lisicki managed to win her first main draw match in a while.
Lisicki overcame Tamara Korpatsch 6-4, 7-6 (5) in her first round encounter, to seal a place besides Minnen. The match lasted an hour and 51 minutes and saw a total of seven breaks in the encounter – four for Lisicki helping her edge past her opponent.

Minnen Finally Wins One on Grass
Minnen had last won a main draw match on grass in Rosmalen in 2019. This year, she featured at the Rosmalen again and was dumped out in the first round, and then lost her opener Gaiba again.
She started off a favourite in the opener here against Misaki Doi, and lived up to that tag defeating her Japanese opponent 6-3, 6-3 to move into the second.
The match lasted an hour and 15 minutes, with Minnen slamming eight aces and breaking her opponent four times. In turn, she was broken once, which gave Doi a bit of a sniff in the second set but Minnen retaliated with one of her own to finish off her opponent’s chances.
Minnen starts off a favourite against Lisicki too but it might not be as easy as it was against Doi given her opponent’s pedigree.

Lisicki is 5/4 to win this and those are very tempting odds for a player who showed some sparkle in her opening round win. Add her preferences on grass and we could be looking at an upset victory here.
