Garbine Muguruza v Camila Giorgi Head to Head
It’s 2-2 between the two ladies. Muguruza’s both victories came in Grand Slams with the most recent one coming in the 2016 Wimbledon first round in straight sets. That was also their last meeting on the WTA Tour.

World No. 10 Garbine Muguruza finally bagged a win on grass this season as she upset Magdalena Frech in her Eastbourne International opener. The number five seed won the match 6-1, 7-6(9), in an hour and 44 minutes.
Now she is up against Giorgi, who has had a few good weeks on the tour of late and is certainly capable of defeating her.
Muguruza’s lacklustre season can be summarised by a dearth of singles titles (or finals) and a tally of 8-10, including her recent most win.
The 28-year-old Spaniard has struggled visibly as she lost her opening bout in four of her last six tournaments – to the likes of Andrea Petkovic, Alison Riske, Yulia Putintseva, and Kaia Kanepi. The highlights of her season include a couple of quarterfinal runs in Doha and Sydney.
With two Grand Slams under her belt and a former No. 1 ranking, Muguruza has clearly got an enviable pedigree but her lack of form and momentum puts her in a different tide altogether.

Giorgi Tames Marino
Camila Giorgi, seeded number 12 for the tournament, started with a bye into round two. In her match, she surpassed Canada’s Rebecca Marino 7-5, 6-4 although, her game wasn’t that impressive. She won only 53% of the points behind the first serve and was successful on account of Marino’s inferior play.
Nonetheless, the Italian has got a fair bit of momentum to her game. She arrived in Eastbourne on the back of a quarterfinal result in Birmingham and a second-round appearance in Nottingham.
Giorgi also made it to the fourth round in the Paris Slam after upsetting Shuai Zhang, Aryna Sabalenka, and Yulia Putintseva in order to redeem herself from a preceding, six-match losing streak on the WTA Tour.
The World No. 26 has got a chance to keep this rhythm going; she is experienced and certainly no stranger to facing the big guns and holding her own.
Muguruza v Giorgi Prediction and Tip
On any other day, Muguruza would have been the overwhelming favourite but given her recent tendency to lose stunningly, Giorgi has got a solid chance here.
That said, Camila isn’t the most consistent of the bunch so it may very well come down to how these two fare on Wednesday. The match can swing either way but we may be looking at a long affair.
