Karolína Plíšková v Tereza Martincova Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two and Pliskova has won both in straight sets. This includes a third round encounter at the previous year’s Wimbledon where Pliskova ran away to 6-3, 6-3 victory en route her finals appearance.

Pliskova Continues with Poor Form

She is a former world number one, currently ranked seventh but Pliskova is hardly showing that kind of form at the moment.

In fact, Pliskova’s 8-10 win-loss record for the season is easily one of the worst among the top 20 players this season. As the Road to the WTA Finals rankings for the season go, Pliskova is 67th in the world – an indicator how things have gone for the Czech player.

Injury has had a role to play obviously with the Czech player having had to withdraw from the Australian Open and all the tournaments in Australia around then but for her to not recover enough to get back her results even five months on is a bit of a surprise.

Pliskova featured in a couple of competitions on grass this season, and won and lost two matches as well in a continued sign of poor form. Can the 2021 Wimbledon finalist turn things around when it really matters?

Martincova Struggles after Bright Start

Having touched a career-best ranking of 40th in the world, Martincova looked to have started off with the grass swing rather well with her showing in Nottingham.

The now-59th-ranked player Martincova stormed into the semifinal of the Nottingham Open without dropping a set before Beatriz Haddad Maia got the better of her.

Since that meeting, she has played at Birmingham and Eastbourne and lost in the first round at both those competitions, leaving her with more questions than solutions.

Martincova, who had reached the third round at this tournament last season in what has been her best Grand Slam performance ever, will now hope to pull up her socks and eke out a surprise win over her vanquisher from last Wimbledon.

Plíšková v Martincova Prediction and Tip

Martincova starts off a distant second favourite here at 9/4 but she has shown she relishes grass and with Pliskova struggling for form, there might not be that much of a difference between these two players. Expect a three-setter.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
