Maxime Cressy showed himself quite strong on grass this year with several notable performances. In Halle, he pushed eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz quite hard in three sets and now he’s in a semifinal.
The journey of Cressy has been an interesting one to follow as the American established himself as a very capable player. He said a few years ago that he wants to become the best player in the world and while quite unrealistic he’s improving every year.
A rare breed nowadays with a signature serve and volley style, success for Cressy on grass should not come as a surprise. This style of play won many Wimbledon trophies and he’s bringing it back in style. Wins over British players in Evans and Norrie certainly prove he’s serious.

Jack Draper is the final remaining Britsi player in the draw of Eastbourne. The native player will hope the fans’ support can propel him to his maiden ATP Final.
The semifinal was booked after a win over another native player Ryan Peniston who has played wonderful tennis all grass season. Both of them are great grass players and this semifinal from Draper was only a matter of time. He flashed a bit of talent last year and this year he’s been breaking out.
A strong serve, really solid groundstroke and very good movement for a player who’s quite tall are the trademarks of Draper. He’s certainly going to be a very good player on grass for a very long time and with 30-7 on the year so far he’s going to head into this one with confidence.

Cressy v Draper Prediction and Tip
This one is very hard to call. They never played against each other and the level is quite similar. I think Draper has all the tools to be great however I think he might face some issues against Cressy. Players who never played Cressy take some time to adjust to his playstyle and he’s looked very good in those matchups.
I think it will be a close matchup and I think Draper will show up but the playstyle of Cressy will give him some trouble. Hence why I’ll back the American to win this one. I’ve been very impressed with what he showed so far this year. Particularly in Eastbourne.
