Raducanu Fitness Remains a Concern

Raducanu would have loved to do a lot better than she has so far following her US Open triumph and what hasn’t helped are her fitness concerns.

Her latest issue stems from a side injury that forced her to pull out of the Nottingham Open in the very first round. It was Raducanu’s first and only match on grass and she featured in only seven games against Viktorija Golubic before her retirement.

What this means is she enters Wimbledon not fully sure of her fitness but more vitally, quite rusty from having not featured on grass in a full-length match.

And while reports suggest she has been practicing at the All England Club in the lead-up to her first round match, there are still some doubts surrounding on how fit she is. We will only know when she takes to court for her opener.

Van Uytvanck Enters Wimbledon with Strong Grass Showing

She might have lost in the first round at Bad Homburg last week but van Uytvanck has put up the kind of showing on grass this season that make her a player to watch out. And with a struggling Raducanu first up against the Belgian, she could have a chance to go deeper than she has in the past editions at this tournament.

Because van Uytvanck enters this competition on a back of a 12-2 win-loss record on grass this year across all competitions.

It includes a title win in Surbiton on the ITF circuit, and another tournament victory in Gaiba in the WTA125 series.

And at Rosmalen, van Uytvanck first ousted Elise Mertens to reach the last eight before nearly toppling Aryna Sabalenka in her next match.

With that kind of form on grass, it wouldn’t be beyond the Belgian to get into her stride quite quickly and attack the Briton’s number one. Can she pull off a win though?

Raducanu v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Despite Raducanu being 35 places ahead of her opponent on the WTA charts, it’s van Uytvanck who starts off a favourite and we will have to back the Belgian player to carve out a win here.

Tip: van Uytvanck to win: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
