Thanasi Kokkinakis v Kamil Majchrzak Head to Head

They played in the Wimbledon qualies in 2018 with Kokkinakis winning 6-1 6-4.

Kokkinakis Back at Wimbledon

Thanasi Kokkinakis is finally back to playing regular tennis this season and the Australian will make his way back to Wimbledon. He won’t be arriving in spectacular form having played only one grass match and it came in the Surbiton challenger at the start of June.

He lost that match and he since did not play a single match which is a bit worrisome considering his long history of injuries. It’s been a fairly strong year for the Australian with an 18-10 record and a grand slam trophy in Doubles in Melbourne.

That gave him confidence for the year and he’s been playing well. He’s won one trophy in singles in Adelaide as well so generally, it’s a proper comeback. It remains to be seen what he can do at Wimbledon but similar to his good buddy Nick Kyrgios, he loves this place.

He’s been pretty okay on grass generally but injuries left him only with a 12-18 record. He has a powerful serve and everything revolves around that. As long as it works he’ll be good.

Majchrzak Finally in the Main Draw

Kamil Majchrzak played only once in the Wimbledon main draw and this is his chance to finally score that elusive win. It was back in 2019 and he lost to Fernando Verdasco in three sets. He’s come pretty close a couple of times playing numerous qualies but he could never get over the hump.

This year will be a decent chance as he actually demonstrated some pretty strong play on grass. Similar to his opponent, Kamil also has a powerful serve and his game revolves even more around that. There is a solid forehand in there with some variety as well.

He went 9-3 on grass last year so he’s generally pretty comfortable on the surface. His main issue has been beating very good players as he’s yet to figure it out. It’s been an okay year for him with a 15-14 record but it’s far from anything special.

He won only one match on grass heading into Wimbledon and it was against Dominik Koepfer who has fallen off a cliff.

Kokkinakis v Majchrzak Prediction and Tip

As much as I like Kokkinakis I think he will largely succeed at this year’s Wimbledon in the doubles with Kyrgios. Majchrzak played more recently and despite losing those matches he looked fit and competitive. Kokkinakis has not played in a month and that’s not very good.

The Australian also lost his only grass match to a player far outside the top 100 and that’s not good either. I don’t think he will win this one despite beating the Pole at Wimbledon four years ago. I just like Majchrzak in this spot against a struggling Kokkinakis.

Tip: Majchrzak to win in four sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
