Wild Card for Van Rijthoven

Tim Van Rijthoven got a wild card in Den Bosch and won his maiden ATP title at the home event. He did so by beating Daniil Medvedev in the final comfortably and he got a wild card for Wimbledon as well.

He won’t win Wimbledon obviously but he has a very good chance to win the first round. The Dutch player showed a very high level on grass Den Bosch and while it’s possible he overachieved, he can certainly play well on the surfaces.

A good serve, a strong forehand and generally pretty solid movement all works well on grass. Confidence should be high after the Den Bosch triumph and he will certainly look forward to this event. The draw did im a solid so he will be excited to get this journey started.

If he wins he will likely make his top 100 debut and if that is not enough motivation, then playing at Wimbledon certainly will do the trick.

Delbonis Winless on Grass

The title pretty much sums it up pretty well and there is very little to add. In order not to get fired I will explain to you why Delbonis is not good on grass. He’s from Argentina and I’m pretty sure they don’t have many grass courts if any at all.

Delbonis has spent the majority of his career playing on clay and that’s what he’s good at. Hard court wins have happened but on grass he never did it. He mostly played one prep event ahead of Wimbledon and he lost all those matches.

Delbonis is 0-12 all-time on grass and that’s going to continue. He got to play a player ranked outside of the top 300 recently in Mallorca and lost comfortably so there is very little optimism for him. He’ll like to get away from London as soon as possible and who can blame him.

Van Rijthoven v Delbonis Prediction and Tip

So I don’t think I need to repeat this any more than I already did but Federico Delbonis never won a match on grass before. He lost the only one he played this year to a player ranked outside of the top 300 and he’s certainly not favoured to win this one against a fully confident Van Rijthoven.

This would be a pretty major shock for him if the Dutch player lost but strange things have happened. I’m not putting money on that so I’m backing Dan Rijthoven to do it.

Tip: Van Rijthoven to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
