Clarke Gets a Wildcard to Enter Wimbledon Again

Wimbledon has fond associations for Clarke. In 2018 he was given a wildcard here for his Grand Slam debut, and, that same year, he reached the semi-finals of the mixed doubles with compatriot Harriet Dart.

More often found on the Challenger tour, he has been in two finals this year, finishing rummer-up in Italy in January, and winning an event in Mexico last month.

However, he has been struggling on grass this year, losing in the first round in Surbiton, and the second in Nottingham. He failed to qualify for Queen’s and then was well beaten in the first round of Eastbourne by the American Brandon Nakashima.

Clarke is the recipient of a wildcard again.

Harrison’s Second Grand Slam Appearance

This is only the second time in his career that Harrison has made it through to then main draw of a Grand Slam event.

It was in 2018 that he made his Wimbledon debut, only to lose in the first round.

He is a regular on the Challenger tour when he was the beaten finalist in singles in a tournament in Savannah in April.

However, he won the doubles at an event in Tallahassee the same month, and also in Little Rock in May.

The American made it through qualifying by beating Anton Matusevich of Great Britain, then Delibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic, and finally, Daniel Masur of Germany.

Clarke v Harrison Prediction and Tip

With a wildcard facing a qualifier, and with both men more familiar with the Challenger tour, there is little form available as a reliable guide. Clarke, though, should be more familiar with the conditions, and with the support of the British crowd behind him, will be confident of reaching the second round.

Tip: Clarke to win: 9/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
