Kerber Coming off Bad Homburg Quarterfinal

Kerber opted to feature in only one grass court competition as her Wimbledon tune-up and reached the quarterfinal there at Bad Homburg.

A former Wimbledon champion and a semifinalist last season at this tournament, Kerber hasn’t had an extraordinary season by anyone’s standards despite winning one WTA title.

The German won it in Strasbourg, on clay – her first in six years on that surface – but overall, Kerber has a paltry 11-10 win-loss record for this season. And that’s thanks to opening round defeats in five of the tournaments she has played in.

At Bad Homburg, Kerber sent Anastasia Gasanova and Lucia Bronzetti packing in the first two rounds before Alize Cornet had her number in the quarterfinals. Can she shrug that loss off coming up against a player who has beaten her in the past?

Mladenovic Continues to Let Singles Suffer

A title win at the French Open was good going for Mladenovic, but that sixth Grand Slam title meant her focus continued to shift away from singles play.

Once ranked 10th in the world, the Frenchwoman is right now 118th and if this trend continues, very soon she will need to feature in qualifiers to make it through to Grand Slam main draws.

This year, Mladenovic has registered just one singles victory and that came in Rabat in May. More recently she tried her hand on grass but lost in the first round of an ITF competition and then in the Eastbourne International qualifiers as well.

Coming up against Kerber, Mladenovic will need to overcome her own form and hope for a dip in her opponent’s fortunes on grass to harbour any hopes of any upset.

Kerber v Mladenovic Prediction and Tip

Kerber should not have any issues getting past her off-colour opponent here in straight sets.

Tip: Keber to win in straight sets: 1/3 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
