Swiatek Kicks Things off in Style

There were a few moments in the second set of her opening round match where Swiatek looked vulnerable but other than that she began her Wimbledon campaign in fine style as he registered 6-0, 6-3 win over Jana Fett.

Swiatek was on court for an hour and 15 minutes and relied on her opponent’s 23 unforced errors to carve out the victory.

After getting off to a flier by breaking Fett three times, Swiatek was then broken in the very first game of the second set. It looked like a blip in the radar as she came back to break Fett and level things out at 1-1 but then dropped her service yet again to trail 1-3 at one stage.

It was here Swiatek turned things around again but winning the next five games in a row to complete the victory, her 36th win in a row.

In doing so, the Polish number one has set a record for the longest winning streak since the year 2000, breaking Venus Williams’ record of 35 in this century.

And now with a 138th-ranked player in front of her, it looks like a 37th Swiatek win in a row could well be coming to town.

Lucky Loser Pattinama Kerkhove Continues to Rule

It was never expected to be an easy run-up to what Pattinama Kerkhove had managed last year at Wimbledon but she has emulated exactly that.

Having qualified for the previous edition of the competition and then beaten Svetlana Kuznetsova in the opening round of that competition, Pattinama Kerkhove repeated that same feat this year around as well.

Except this time around, Pattinama Kerkhove was sent packing in the third qualifying round by Christina McHale and then qualified to make it to the main draw where she met British wildcard entrant Sonay Kartal in her opener.

The world number 138 overcame her 226th-ranked opponent 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in an hour and 35 minutes to reach the second round where she will take on the world number one.

And while Pattinama Kerkhove might not be a match for Swiatek, it could well be another feather in her cap to make it to her second successive Wimbledon second round.

Swiatek v Pattinama Kerkhove Prediction and Tip

This can be expected to be as straightforward an encounter as the previous one for Swiatek with the Pole not expected to lost more than five games in it. Less than 17.5 games in the match.

Tip: Under 17.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
