Mackenzie McDonald v Richard Gasquet Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players before this and it was McDonald who came away a winner. It came at the Murray River Open earlier this year where he won 7-6 (2), 7-5 to reach the second round.

McDonald had made it to the second round of both the grass court competitions he had played earlier this month but that looked to be in jeopardy when he was drawn to take on Marin Cilic in his opener.
A last minute fitness issue for Cilic meant it was left for lucky loser Nuno Borges to fill in that void and McDonald took full toll of this last-minute switch. In turn, he made it to the second round, yet again.
The American won 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 (3) in his opener against Borges, in a match lasting a tick over two hours, in a display that screamed of a clinical performance.
McDonald faced and saved eight break-points and needed only two breaks of serves, one apiece in the first two sets, to complete the victory.
He will now play a much more experienced second round opponent and will hope he can do better than what he did in Halle and Mallorca – win successive matches.

Gasquet Stretched to Five in Grass Opener
Gasquet isn’t much of a lover of grass court tennis by the looks of things, opting to play a clay court Challenger competition at the end of the French Open instead of featuring in Wimbledon tune-up events.
That seemed to be a bit of a problem for the rusty Gasquet but in the end, he would be pleased to repeat his showing from the previous Wimbledon where he had reached the second round.
The Frenchman overcame Joao Sousa in a difficult five-setter, with the match lasting three hours and 27 minutes thanks to Gasquet letting a two set to love lead slip away.
In the end, Gasquet did regain control of the match and came through but against McDonald he will have to do a lot more than wait on his opponent’s 43 unforced errors to make it through.

McDonald might not have the experience that Gasquet does but he does have the game to challenge his opponent here and come away with a rare back to back win on grass.
