Altmaier’s Return to Relevancy

Daniel Altmaier has had a fairly solid year so far with a 20-20 and clay has been by far his best surface. He is 9-5 on the surface this year and generally, he played rather well on it in the past.

Altmaier’s game revolves around his serve and powerful groundstrokes which sometimes can be quite off giving him trouble in finishing off matches. Like so many players, the German’s fundamental flow is his consistency which can be all over the place.

When he is feeling well and serving well he can beat pretty much anybody, especially on clay however that rarely happens. This year has been good to him and he’s been able to rise on the rankings with events such as these really important for him.

He needs a good outing here to continue the good trend for him which started all the way back on the grass.

Ymer’s Home Event

Elias Ymer does not get many chances to play back home in Sweden which makes this event along with Stockholm quite important. This is even more so because his best tennis usually comes on clay despite a solid all-around game that can work on all surfaces.

2022 has been a pretty decent year for him with a 25-18 record and 11-9 on clay. His recent form has been a bit shaky but that’s quite expectable considering he played on grass. He return to clay last week in Salzburg but ran into a very inspired Corentin Moutet who proved better in two sets.

Ymer likes to play aggressively and attack with very little variety in his game. He mostly lives and dies by his playstyle which is admirable but makes him also quite beatable. He’s not yet in the top 100 but solid play this year got him closer than ever.

Altmaier v Ymer Prediction and Tip

This is a very interesting matchup between two players who can play well on clay. It’s a solid year for both but Ymer is playing at home. It will count for something but I don’t think it will be enough to win the match.

I’ve liked a lot of the things I saw from Altmaier recently and I think he has more confidence and plays a bit better at the moment. I’ll back the German to win it, just like in their most recent clash last year.

Tip: Altmaier to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
