World No. 79 Anastasia Potapova will be happy to compete in a clay tournament again.
It is on this surface that she won the first WTA title of her career – in the 2022 Istanbul Cup. It was nothing short of a dream run for the 21-year-old Russian who beat players like Petra Martic, Sara Sorribes Tormo, and Veronika Kudermetova (as a qualifier) to lift the trophy.
That result, however, was followed by a litany of early exits in the subsequent event as Potapova failed to build on newly-found success.
It was also preceded by such a form, putting her year-to-date form tally at 18-14. Most of her victories have come in the qualifiers/opening matches.
By the looks of it, Anastasia is low on form and momentum and that may spell problems for her.

Bronzetti, Looking Sharp
Lucie Bronzetti, age 23, hailing from Italy, is now ranked World No. 66. It is a career-best feat for her which she achieved on the heels of an impressive 25-16 season.
Unlike Potapova, Bronzetti does not have a WTA title to her name yet but she has all the bearings to win one.
Considering her form on clay, Lucia won the ITF Chiasso back in April and later reached the semifinal in WTA Rabat. She was also quite proficient on the hard courts as the Italian made it to the round of 16 in Miami from the qualifiers – dismissing Ajla Tomljanovic, Stefanie Voegele, and Anna Kalinskaya en route.
Lucia had a similar run in the Australian Open where she cleared the qualifiers but fell in round two.
Her grass season, however, was not this colourful as she lost in round two in Gaiba and Bad Homburg, and the opener in Wimbledon.
Bronzetti v Potapova Prediction and Tip
This match can swing either way. Bronzetti is the odds-on favourite but Potapova has proven that she can punch above her weight. We may be looking at a long affair.
