Kontaveit Hoping to Shrug off Recent Lapses

She might have jumped to the second spot on the world rankings but Kontaveit’s recent form has been anything but second-ranked-worthy.

In fact, Kontaveit hasn’t played as much tennis as she would have liked either because of fitness issues, and her third round defeat in Indian Wells and a second round loss at Miami was the start of some of her form issues.

Since then, Kontaveit has played only seven matches and won just three.

Two of those losses came in first round of tournaments on clay having lost to Petra Martic in Rome and Ajla Tomljanovic at the French Open.

Now, after a second round defeat at Wimbledon, Kontaveit will hope to turn things around again as she looks to justify her world ranking and has an opponent who has never seen the top 100 in her career.

Can she kick-start things out with a strong showing?

Bara More Found on the Lower Circuit

This will be one of those rare WTA top level appearances for Bara who has been more involved on the ITF circuit. Her last top level tournament was Wimbledon where she did make it to the second round but since then she has been involved in a couple of Bundesliga competitions and two ITF tournaments.

And unfortunately for Bara, even at that level, she has barely been able to find any momentum.

Bara’s best performance on the WTA circuit this season came at the Bogota Open. On the clay courts in that competition, Bara managed to reach the quarterfinal.

Those two wins there were part of a total of four wins she has registered this season.

Why is why, despite coming up against an out of sorts world number two, Bara herself would have to up her game to a level where she could look to challenge her opponent.

Kontaveit v Bara Prediction and Tip

Kontaveit, on paper, should have no worries here, but given her fitness and form, we could see a tougher competition the 1/4 odds for her win suggest.

Tip: Kontaveit to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
