Bernabe Zapata Miralles has put together a fabulous year by his own standards in 2022. The Spaniard has painstakingly worked his way into the world’s top 100 for many years on the ATP Challenger Tour. And that hard work has now paid off.
The 25-year-old is firmly entrenched inside the centurion club, sitting comfortably at no. 81 in the rankings. He has actually played more tour-level matches this season than on the Challenger Tour, but trails in the win-loss record for the season so far.
Zapata Miralles will bid to improve on his last visit to Umag, where he lost in the Round of 16 to Dusan Lajovic.

Prizmic Gets Taste of Tour-Level Tennis
16-year-old Dino Prizmic will get a taste of tour-level tennis for the first time in his home country. Prizmic, who is highly regarded in the Croatian tennis fraternity, is one of the youngest players to ever appear in the main draw in Umag.
He is one of three Croatian wild cards at the tournament this week and it will be fascinating to see him play at the top level. Prior to his opening match on Monday, Prizmic appeared predominantly on the ITF circuit where he has won multiple tournaments.
Prizmic reached the semifinals of the Roland Garros junior championships which clearly implies his surface preference is clay. He arrives in Umag on the back of a runner-up finish at the JB1 Klosters ITF tournament in Switzerland.
The world No. 810 has only appeared once on the Challenger Tour, losing in the first round to Nino Serdarusic in Zagreb.
Zapata Miralles v Prizmic Prediction and Tip
This is not the sort of introduction Prizmic would have imagined, playing a high-flying Zapata Miralles on clay. Expect the Spaniard to overwhelm the teenager in a one-sided contest.
