Petra Martic v Maja Chwalinska Head to Head

Lausanne Open champion Petra Martic remained strong at the Poland Open, beginning her campaign with a straight sets win over Poland’ s Weronika Falkowska.
Following the win, the World no. 56 extended her unbeaten run to six matches and improved her season record to 24-13.
But the opening round win against the World No. 346 was by no means an easy one for the eighth seed Croatian. Falkowska was the first two break to take a 3-4 lead in the opening set. Two games later she had five set points saved by Martic on the latter’s serve. Martic held serve and then went on to win the next three games as well to take a one-set lead.
Falkowska broke in the very first game of the second set, but Martic broke back in the fourth game to draw level. Martic then built a 5-3 lead with a break in the eighth game, but couldn’t serve out the match in the next game, as the local favourite kept the set on serve. But Martic broke again in the very next game to beat Falkowska 7-5, 6-4.
Martic, who beat Olga Danilovic in the Lausanne final, was a quarterfinalist in Indian Wells and made it to the Round of 16 at Wimbledon and the Italian Open.

Chwalinska Dispatches Masarova
Maja Chwalinska’s promising season got even better as the 20-year-old lefty ousted Spain’s Rebeka Masarova in the opening round on Monday.
The Polish player, who made it to the second round of her major debut at Wimbledon this year, needed just an hour and 45 minutes to dispatch Masarova 7-5, 6-2.
Masarova came back from a break down twice to make things interesting in the first set, but she showed very little resistance in the second set. After racing to a 4-0 lead, Chwalinska lost two games in a row, but she regrouped quickly and took the next two games to send the World No. 165 packing.
With the win, Chwalinska improved her season record to 36-11 from all tournaments, which includes two ITF titles from three finals. She also had three semifinal finishes at the ITF level this year.
Martic v Chwalinska Prediction and Tip
Martic will be looking to extend her streak further with another solid display on Thursday. Expect Chwalinska to test the Croat but the latter should eventually come through.
