Laura Pigossi v Ana Bogdan Head to Head
No previous matches have been played between Pigossi and Bogdan before this.

She had lost in the second qualifying round but came through to the main draw as a lucky loser. And now, over the past two rounds, Pigossi has won back to back matches against players who have been overwhelming favourites in those respective encounters.
In the first round, she was a 7/5 to defeat Varvara Gracheva and did so in straight sets but it was her second round victory that would be even more precious.
Pigossi won the battle of South Americans, as she overcame a first set loss at the hands of Nadia Podoroska to clinch her quarterfinal berth 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 in two hours and seven minutes.
So drastic was the turnaround that Pigossi went from getting herself no break-points in the first set to breaking her opponent five times over the next two sets. A win here will take her to the semifinal of a WTA event for the second time this season.

Bogdan Stuns Siniakova
There wasn’t much to choose between the two players but at 8/11 odds to win their second round match, Katerina Siniakova held bit of an edge. It was Bogdan who came through, however, and in straight sets to seal her last eight berth.
Bogdan, ranked 108th in the world and having reached the latter rounds at WTA125 competitions this year, won back to back matches for the first time in a WTA 250 (or beyond) competition in 2022.
After having overcome Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in the first round, she stunned Siniakova 6-0, 6-4 in a mere hour and 36 minutes to advance to the next stage.
Bogdan broke her opponent five times in the encounter and endured just one of those in return – it came in the ninth game of the second set – to complete the rout.

This has Bogdan as a heavy favourite at 1/4 to win it but Pigossi’s run suggests she will be no pushover. Expect her win a set at the very least.
