Yannick Hanfmann v Filip Misolic Head to Head
They played last week in Gstaad and Hanfmann won 3-6 7-6(4) 6-0.

Yannick Hanfmann is back to playing his best tennis and it’s a great sight to see. The German played his best match of the year to down Dominic Thiem in his backyard. Thiem did not play a bad match but he wasn’t great either. Rain played a factor here putting the Austrian in a bad position and the German took care of it.
It was a strange match, one where Hanfmann had the initiative early taking the first set. Thiem countered with improved serving and better play in the 2nd set to take it with Hanfman being better early in the 3rd. The German squandered a couple of break points and barely held for the 5-4 when the rain started falling.
Eventually, the players returned to finish the match and a cold Thiem wasn’t able to take his service game. It’s a huge win for Hanfmann who is playing really well. A good serve, and confident play from the backline is at the centre of his play right now.
He’ll try to get to the final as he did in 2020 here and try to win it this time. It’s been an okay year so far with a 20-16 record but a trophy here could do wonders for his confidence and ranking.

Misolic Pulls Through
Filip Misolic is enjoying the best week of his career on native soil in Kitzbuhel. It’s a bit of a surprise but not a large one as the Austrian played solid tennis all year long. The 21-year-old will break into the top 200 following this event and that’s the most important thing.
Anything he achieves from here will be a bonus but winning two matches in a day will be very tough for him. It will be a learning experience but one thing that he goes going for him is the fact that the opponent is familiar. Misolic nearly beat him last week in Gstaad.
He will be smarter this time around but the physical aspect of this match is not in his favour. He had a major collapse in Gstaad against the German and he will need to work hard to avoid that.
If he can find enough energy and play a complete match, he can win. That would be a major coup for the Austrian, to get his maiden final on native soil.
Hanfmann v Misolic Prediction and Tip
This is a very interesting matchup that we saw last week. The surface will be the same, and the condition will be similar but Misolic will have the crowd backing him.
He’ll also have fatigue from the previous match that went to three sets and how well he handles that fatigue will determine whether he can win. I don’t think he’ll do that great, but I do think we’ll see a very close match. Even so, I’ll back Hanfmann for another final in Kitzbuhel.
