Benjamin Bonzi v Christopher Eubanks Head to Head

They played once before and it happened recently in Newport on Grass. Bonzi won in two sets.

Bonzi Back on Hard Courts

Benjamin Bonzi breakout last year by practically winning over 20 matches in a row on the challenger Tour and getting way inside the top 100 without even playing a single ATP match. Well, he backed it up on the ATP tour this year going 30-16 so far which is very impressive for a player that largely played on the Challenger Tour.

Bonzi has a winning record on every surface so far except the outdoor hard courts. It’s not a coincidence but he’ll certainly turn that around now in the next couple of weeks. Bonzi can play very well on concrete, that’s not the issue, and his serve is a very powerful weapon as well.

The issue is his experience which has mostly been on other surfaces. He’ll get there eventually as Washington will be his first event since the grass season. It will take some time to adjust but he should be fine.

He’ll play a player he beat not long ago on grass and he should be feeling good about himself. He is very close to breaking inside the top 40 and that should be motivation as well.

Eubanks Up and Down Play

Christopher Eubanks is a player that is flirting with a top 100 ranking for years but the American never quite gets the job done. Very often he will come close but then enter a rough stretch and drop on the rankings. His favourite part of the season traditionally is when he can play at home.

He’ll get a few weeks of North American action with a chance to improve upon his 153 ranking. His best surface has always been hard courts where he employs his strong serve.

That’s his main weapon and everything is based on how well he serves. The better he serves, the better he’ll play overall. It’s a confidence thing for him and lately, it’s not been that great. He played the qualifiers in Atlanta losing to Jack Draper in three sets.

It was a solid match but clearly not strong enough to win it. Perhaps he will have more luck here but it will be tough.

Bonzi v Eubanks Prediction and Tip

Benjamin Bonzi beat Eubanks recently in Newport and he’ll be favoured to do it again. Hard courts favour both but Bonzi is quite a bit better in everything he does.

He’s played better overall and I’ll expect him to play better in this one as well. Take Bonzi in two.

Tip: Bonzi to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
