Venus Williams v Rebecca Marino Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting a while ago between Venus Williams and Marino and the American had won that 2010 US Open match with some ease.

It’s been nearly a year since Venus Williams featured in a competitive encounter having last taken to court at Chicago in August 2021.
That opening round loss at the hands of Wei-Su Hsieh in that competition was her ninth of the season and to go with just three wins, it spoke volumes about Venus’ struggles on court.
It had been no better in 2020 either. In fact of the nine matches the multiple Grand Slam winner had played that season, she had won just one – it came in Lexington in August 2020.
Now she returns to courts after such a long layoff as a wildcard and not even ranked on the WTA Rankings charts. Can she put up a fight against an opponent who has had a decent time on the ITF circuit.

Marino Scrapes Through Qualifiers
She was a heavy favourite going into both of her qualifying rounds coming into this tournament but Marino ended up making heavy weather of those victories.
In her first round, Marino registered a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win over Valentini Grammatikopoulou before Sachia Vickery took her to a third set as well in the second. The good news is Marino, following on from her ITF Arcadia title on hard court, managed to put it across both the players.
In fact, counting her performances on the ITF level and qualifiers of WTA tournaments, Marino is currently 23-6 win-loss on hard court surfaces.
